HOW IT WORKS

SCORING
Each match is worth one point, with matches ending in a tie worth 1/2 point to each side. The first team to reach 25 points wins the KY Presidents Cup. If the matches end in a tie, the team holding the KY Presidents Cup retains it.

POINTS
The two days of matches consist of 49 total matches, each of which is worth one point. There are no extra holes in KY Presidents Cup. Should the two sides be tied after any match, each side earns a half point.

CLAIMING THE CUP
To win the KY Presidents Cup outright, a team must collect 25 of the 49 points available. In the case of a 24.5-24.5 tie, the winning team from the previous KY Presidents Cup retains the trophy.

CONCESSION
Unlike stroke play, players don't have to complete each hole in match play. If a player concedes a stroke – almost always a putt – to his opponent, the opponent picks up his ball, takes the score he would have made on the next stroke and moves on to the next hole.

PRESIDENTS CUP GAME PLAY

The first day includes one 18 hole session of four-ball and two 9-hole sessions of foursomes at Weissinger Hills Golf Course. The final day is reserved for 28 singles matches at Chariot Run Golf Club.

SATURDAY MORNING LOW BALL
18 Holes | 7 Points Available

In four-ball, each member of a two-man team plays his own ball, so four balls are in play on every hole. Each team counts the lowest of its two scores on each hole, and the team whose player has the lowest score wins the hole. If the low scores are tied, the hole is halved.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALTERNATE SHOT
Front 9 | 7 Points Available

In "Chapman Style" alternate shot, both players from each team hit from the teeing area. Each player takes their 2nd shot from the other player’s drive. From the best 2nd shot, the partners play alternating shots into the hole. The player whose second shot was picked up, plays the third shot, hitting the best of the 2nd shot ball. The team with the low score on each hole wins that hole. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON SCRAMBLE
Back 9 | 7 Points Available

Each player hits from the teeing area, the best position is selected for each pairing, and each player hits from the best position after each shot until a ball is holed. The team with the lowest score wins that hole. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved.

SUNDAY SINGLES
2x 9-Hole Matches | 28 Points Available

In Sunday Singles, there are two 9-hole matches. Each player will compete against one opponent for the first 9 holes and switch on the second 9 holes. The player with the lower score on each hole wins that hole. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved.
